Distress Centre Wellington/Dufferin provides a confidential, 24 hour, support, referral, and crisis assistance telephone service to individuals through non-judgmental listening by trained volunteers.
Distress Centre Wellington/Dufferin works independently and in community partnerships to provide education, training and a communication response network. Callers are NOT required to identify themselves (although they may wish to), nor to give information which might identify their location. One of the strengths of our service is that people feel free to share any personal problem anonymously. In addition, the Centre does NOT have Caller ID on any of its phone lines. We receive our core funding for this important service from The United Way of Guelph-Wellington, The City of Guelph, The Ministry of Health and Long Term Care, and Navacrek Community Services (Toc-H).
We receive project funding from Human Resources and Skills Development Canada, the Town of Orangeville, The Walk, Hammond Power Solutions, the Rotary Club of Guelph-Trillium, as well as Green Shields Benefits Association.
